Background

TU/ecomotive is a student team from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands that focuses on sustainable mobility solutions. TU/ecomotive is known for its innovative approach to sustainable mobility, and has won numerous awards for their projects, including the world’s first modular electric car and a bio-based electric car made from natural fibers. The team is made up of students from various disciplines, including engineering, design, and business, who collaborate to create cutting-edge mobility solutions.

The Main Goal

Design a brand that reflects the perspectives and aspirations of student team members, both past and present, while also considering their vision for the future!

Positioning

I conducted extensive research on best practices for brand design, taking into consideration the team’s target audience and goals. I analyzed the existing site to identify areas for improvement, including logo design, colorways, and copywriting style

Creative Brainstorming

I facilitated a series of creative sessions aimed at uncovering the true meaning of TU/ecomotive for our team. These sessions helped us to solidify our understanding of the brand and lay the foundation for a successful rebranding effort.

Brand Design

I revamped the logo and colorway to create a comprehensive library of design elements and applications for future content creation. In addition, I updated the logo to create a complementary brand image that stays close to TU/ecomotive’s image but is timeless. To ensure consistency in our brand’s visual image, I created a digital asset library that includes photography guidelines and all kinds of application areas for the entire team to use in creating marketing materials.

Small Adjustments

When working on this project, I often had to quickly redesign or rework certain parts of the brand guidelines or visual identity due to time constraints. I did this to ensure that the designs were easily implementable, even in cross-implementation scenarios. By considering potential applications, I was able to create practical and functional designs that were not only visually appealing, but also effective.

Brand Guidelines

To make sure everyone in the team could make efficient use of the new branding and their usage guidelines, I created a file to view all the different use cases and their exceptions!

Website Design and Development

Based on my research and analysis, I created a detailed plan for the website redesign, which included a wireframe of the new site layout and a style guide for the site’s visual design. I also worked with the team to develop new content for the site, including project descriptions, team member bios, and news updates.

Throughout the process, I remained focused on the team’s goals and worked collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that the new site accurately reflected the team’s values and mission. The end result was a modern, user-friendly website that effectively showcased the team’s achievements and capabilities, and helped to establish the team as a leader in their field.
